Now the first sentence, There is a house.

It is the very basic for 'there is' in English to show something.

If we take the second sentence, It's their house.

It's a different form of 'their'.

これは「their」の別の形です。

In this case, as you probably know, it's the possessive.

この場合、ご存知の方も多いと思いますが、それは所有格です。

The house belongs to them.

この家は彼らのものだ。

It's their house.

彼らの家だからね。

And in the third sentence, They're in the house.

そして3文目には、They're in the house.

It's obviously the contraction of the verb, 'to be', so

これは明らかに「to be」という動詞の短縮形です。

They are in the house.

家の中にいます。

Ok, so three different forms.

Now, listen very carefully.

Now, can you hear a difference?

You have to know whether it's the basic form 'there is',
