There are several verbs related to making a suggestion or offering advice.

提案をすることやアドバイスをすることに関連する動詞がいくつかあります。

Let's talk about three of them today.

Advise, suggest and recommend.

アドバイスしたり、提案したり、お勧めしたり。

These verbs are close in meaning, but there are some differences.

これらの動詞は意味が近いのですが、いくつかの違いがあります。

Advise is the most formal of the three and is used when someone with authority makes a suggestion.

アドバイスは、3つの中で最もフォーマルな表現で、権限のある人が提案をするときに使われます。

It could come from a government official, for example, or a supervisor, doctor, teacher or someone else.

それは、例えば政府の役人、または監督者、医者、教師、または他の誰かから来る可能性があります。

Here's an example.

Experts advise limiting use of digital media before bed recommend is less formal than advise.

It is used when someone offers a suggestion based on his or her personal experience.

Friends, family and colleagues, for instance, can recommend things to each other.

Here's an example.

Suggest is the least formal of the three verbs it is used in.

suggestedは、それが使われる3つの動詞の中で最もフォーマルではありません。

Many situations toe offer an idea, opinion or possible plan of action like this.

多くの状況では、このようなアイデア、意見、または可能性のある行動計画を提供しています。

I suggest we do the hardest tasks first, then the rest will be easy.

難しいことを先にやっておけば、あとは簡単になる。

Note also that the verb suggest can be used in place of recommend when it means that something is good or deserves to be chosen like this, my friend suggested an eye doctor not too far from here.

このように、何かが良いものであることや、選ばれるに値するものであることを意味するときには、動詞 suggest が recommend の代わりに使われることにも注意してください。
