Let's start by creating a filter.

For example, I know Twitter sends me emails from several different addresses, so I'm going to change this to Twitter to make sure it catches all of the emails that they send me.

When you're done, click create filter here, you'll need to choose one or more actions that you want Gmail to take when a message fits the search criteria.

If you ever need to modify a filter, click on the gear icon to go into your settings and click filters and blocked addresses, and you can edit or delete any of your existing filters.
