  • Tokyo travel pro tip.

  • A lot of stuff.

  • It's closed on Monday, actually.

  • Come to think of it, a lot of stuff just closes on random days.

  • So just be sure to check before you go.

  • Anyways.

  • Welcome to the first video of 2019.

  • Today we're gonna be exploring the back streets of Tokyo again.

  • I'll be dropping some knowledge on you guys.

  • Let's have some fun.

  • All right.

  • Little known Tokyo Fun fact.

  • I don't know.

  • I might even be the first person to introduce this behind me here is setting So Ji Temple and right beside me is a little bit of a residence.

  • We can't really go in there, but there's something cool that I want to show you right here in the bushes.

  • Here it is, right here in these bushes.

  • I don't know if you can tell from this one.

  • Here.

  • Let's take a look over here.

  • You guys noticing anything about these little statues?

  • How about if we go over here?

  • This guy right here should pretty much just give it away.

  • In case you didn't notice that that's Ultraman.

  • Well, that is pretty neat.

  • Moving on so much like Senso Ji temple itself.

  • 2018 is behind us.

  • My year ended pretty excitingly.

  • Regular viewers will know that my year got off to an exciting start as I kick back on the sofa and watch myself on TV with the Ocean Brothers is the opening to a three hour New Year's special.

  • It was the culmination of, like, a decade of hard work, and I was really taken aback by the dozens and dozens of you who actually sent me like screenshots.

  • And what not of you watching the program?

  • Thank you so much for tuning in.

  • I hope you had a good time with it.

  • Also, I'm kind of curious as to what this is.

  • Dharma coffee.

  • For those of you who don't know, this is a daughter, Emma, and basically you color in one eye when you make a wish, and if and when the wish comes true, you color in.

  • The other I met makes me realize this is actually a pretty good time to start the Q and A.

  • So with 2000 and 19 being here, one of the first questions that I got was Do you have any goals for this year?

  • I typically try to avoid something like New Year's resolutions because I don't want them just wear off, fade away.

  • But I do have one really big goal for this year, and it's quite simple.

  • No expectations.

  • Over the last year or so of YouTube and just life in general, I've started to realize that expectations are the root of all stresses, so freeing myself of expectations in general.

  • That's the goal for this year.

  • It's really hard just to let go of expectations, so it's not gonna be an easy goal.

  • And to be completely honest, this was a gold long before 2000 and 19 was here.

  • But how about you any big goals and I don't know, New Year's resolutions for this year, all right?

  • And as much as I know that these air Tomicki you can't tell me that this doesn't look like a hobbit hole that's a hobbit hole.

  • Also almost forgot about this one on the note of the TV performance.

  • I don't know if it could be rewatched, but if anybody knows, maybe leave it down below and this'll place feels a little more peaceful than the back streets and seems like a pretty good place to answer the damn question.

  • I got a couple questions about saving up to get to Japan and saving wall in Japan.

  • And while I am by no means a financial expert, I can share with you guys what I did on my end on my end before moving to Japan.

  • I work several part time jobs for, like, a year, year and 1/2 and I do my best just to spend absolutely nothing.

  • Life is always a give and take.

  • There is always a trade off somewhere.

  • I wanted to gain the ability to come to Japan, so I gave up free time and going out with friends and doing all of that stuff and invested all that time and part time jobs to save up to get here.

  • And then once I got here, I'm pretty sure I just ate instant noodles for like my first two months in Japan.

  • It was very unhealthy.

  • I definitely don't recommend that.

  • So not only am I not a financial expert, I'm not a nutritional expert, but I can tell you that instant ramen for two months is not.

  • It's not a good idea.

  • And speaking of food, finding a place to sit down and eat was actually one of the goals of this walk.

  • And I have yet to do that.

  • Because despite the New Year's break being over, everything's closed.

  • Monday's I'm telling you also, isn't it wonderful that peek, atyou, bending machines, everything I think just makes me happy that someone also asked, What is your inspiration and motivation for continuing to put up new content?

  • I've covered several times why I started the channel, but there's one thing that I haven't covered on one of my goals or dreams this year's to make a story about it.

  • You see, I went through a little bit of a dark period a few months after starting the channel.

  • In fact, I almost quit everything.

  • But there was one comment that I got that has really kept me going in every single time that things get too tough every single time that I get to tired.

  • It's that one comment that I go back to one of my goals and dreams this year is to be able to make a story about that comment.

  • I'm not going to share exactly which one it is yet, but in the short answer to what motivates me.

  • It's you guys.

  • I really feel that we've cultivated one of the most beautiful, supportive and amazing community of people ever right here on this channel.

  • And I jive I can't give that up.

  • I just really want to keep that going.

  • So I know I say it a lot, but thank you guys.

  • Also, a lot of the houses in these back streets are being rebuilt.

  • Toe look more modern.

  • Like Look at this one here.

  • This looks very modern, actually, This is one of my favorite things about Japan.

  • Right here we have a but of this car just sticks slightly out of the garage.

  • I do not know why, but car, but sticking out of garages is like one of my favorite things about Tokyo.

  • Ever a weird thing to be the happy boat.

  • I feel like it is.

  • I may have found an open Finally So hungry.

  • Looks a little moody.

  • Let me.

  • It's a bit better.

  • I am torn between pancakes and hot sandwiches.

  • I kind of feel like I got a new pancakes.

  • Right?

  • Mr.

  • Food is here.

  • And would you believe that somebody actually asked if Japan sucks.

  • I don't even think it was a really question, but somebody asked.

  • So I guess I should answer right.

  • I personally don't think that Japan sucks.

  • I think that you can have sucky experiences in Japan, and I think that a lot of it I feel like I've already covered this about a 1,000,000,000 times.

  • I want to know from you guys because a lot of you guys have actually been to Japan are looking coming to Japan In your experience.

  • Japan's son, like I've had days in Japan that suck But mind you have had days back in Canada.

  • Met people that suck again.

  • You meet people everywhere.

  • You know what doesn't say this?

  • Look at this right here.

  • Who was a good lunch?

  • Lunch?

  • Dinner?

  • I don't know.

  • It's like four PM Call it what you will, but I do have a slightly more serious answer For the whole.

  • Does Japan suck question now that I had a chance to sit down, have a meal and reflect and my answer comes from one of my original motivations to become a youtuber because, you see, I've seen people who, for them Japan sucks People who have been here five years, 10 years, 15 years and they hate every aspect of their life.

  • Yet they're stuck and they don't leave.

  • And on the other hand, I've seen friends who have been here again 5 10 15 years, who absolutely love this country and everything about it.

  • And the people who exemplified this the most for me were the content creators when I talked to them about why they love Japan so much and how they held on to that passion so long because they said they're constantly searching for it.

  • They're constantly looking for the things that amaze, surprise and make them happy so that they can share it with the world.

  • And when you're searching for something more often than not, that is what you end up finding.

  • Hearing all of that really brought me around and made me want to do what I'm doing right now, and I don't regret a single second of it.

  • It's had a hugely positive impact on my life.

  • Does that make sense?

  • Does that sum that up?

  • These.

  • These are always a lot more eloquent in my head than when they come out, but hopefully you get the point.

  • You guys did send me a lot of questions this time.

  • I'm sorry for all the ones that I couldn't get to you.

  • I'm going to try to address some of those on Instagram as well.

  • As as we often do with these.

  • I'm going to do a podcast that goes into more in depth answers on these and some of the questions that I didn't get to answer here in the video time.

  • Being as it is, I'm gonna wrap it up here for today.

  • I hope you guys enjoy this one.

  • I cannot wait to hang it with you down in the comments.

  • For now, I'm going to go send some instagram video messages because that's what I promise I'd be doing to people who commented on my instagram photo this week.

  • So I will see you guys again real soon.

  • Also, don't forget the event like buttons.
