  • I want to talk to you about something that is a little bit more personal.

  • It's about helping you.

  • If you are someone who is currently feeling lost in your own life, you're feeling stuck and you're not really sure whether you're on the right path.

  • I have three lessons that I want to share with you that hopefully will help you to get you back on track and feeling better about your career and your life ready to get the job you want.

  • At the end of this video, there are times in each of our lives where we pause and we start to wonder whether we're on the right path in our careers and in our lives.

  • Maybe you haven't been feeling like yourself in the last little while.

  • Maybe you wake up in the mornings and you just dread getting out of bed and going toe work.

  • You live for the weekend, so you're super excited and happy on Fridays.

  • But then you start to slump back down again once Sunday hits.

  • Trust me, I know exactly what you're feeling.

  • I've been there now, for those of you who know me and know my story, you know that that was during a time in my life when I was in the wrong career path, the wrong field.

  • And that was accounting.

  • I realized very quickly after taking on that type of job that it wasn't the right path for me.

  • And because of that, I started dreading going into work every morning.

  • And I just was so lost and feeling so stuck that I wasn't sure what path they needed to take.

  • So today I want to share with you three key lessons that I've learned through this journey of mine that hopefully will help you to understand whether you're on the right path, career wise and just life wise and what to do about it right now, if you're feeling lost, your feeling stuck so that you can start to feel more confident and move in the right direction.

  • So let's just rewind a little bit and let me share with you my story leading up to me.

  • Working in a Big Four accounting firm, I had Teoh take a lot of accounting specific courses, and I also had to write my C P exams.

  • And I worked my butt off to complete those courses and to pass those exams.

  • And even though I had spent months years doing that and finally getting my C P a designation, I knew pretty early on that this was not the path that I wanted to continue on for the rest of my career.

  • So how did I know this?

  • It was simple.

  • It was all based on how I felt.

  • I was dreading going into work in the mornings.

  • I didn't enjoy the daily tasks that I had to perform.

  • I didn't like the long hours that were involved, and I just wasn't happy with the overall structure and work environment, either.

  • Now I could name a huge list of reasons why this wasn't the right fit for me.

  • But the point was that I was simply just not happy, and I knew that I needed to make a change.

  • So when I went ahead and applied for different types of jobs and finally landed an opportunity to become a recruiter, I thought, This is it.

  • This is the job that's perfect for me And the main reason was because I was really good at my job.

  • I became a top performer.

  • I was valued for the work that I did and I really enjoyed recruiting but Onley for a while.

  • Eventually I got to a point where I honestly felt that I had hit all the goals and all the targets that I could possibly reach.

  • And I knew that it was time for me to move on, and that's when I went ahead and started the new and exciting business that I run today, my career consulting business.

  • So how did I know what to do?

  • What did I dio and what did I learn today?

  • I'm going to share with you.

  • Like I said, three lessons that I've personally learned that hopefully will help you to get yourself on the right path.

  • Lesson number one.

  • The thing you're currently unhappy about the most is your biggest teacher.

  • Back during that time, when I was feeling super unhappy and uncertain and lost and people close to me, such as my parents, my family and friends would approach me and ask me, Linda, what's bothering you?

  • I would always say my job.

  • I knew that it was the biggest thorn in my side, and this could be the same for you.

  • Maybe it's not your job.

  • Her say that's really bothering you.

  • But maybe it's the people that you're working with or maybe has nothing to do with your career at all.

  • And it's something else.

  • Maybe you don't yet have the relationship that you really desire, or you're not in a financial position that you, ideally, would love to be.

  • Regardless, whatever it is, that thing that's bothering you the most is your biggest teacher.

  • This is what I've learned when something is bothering us so much to the point that we end up taking it with us to bed, where we fall asleep still feeling that uncertain anxiety, and then you wake up in the morning and we still have that feeling.

  • There's a reason to all of this.

  • There's a reason why you're unhappy.

  • Maybe the job that you're in is just no longer serving you or the people that you work with.

  • They're no longer serving you.

  • Whatever it may be, they're pointing you in the direction that you need to go away from them and towards where your heart desires.

  • So in order for you to figure out what your lesson out of all of this is, you need to ask yourself a couple of questions.

  • The first question to ask yourself is, What is it that bothers me the most?

  • Right now?

  • Is it your job, your finances, your relationships, etcetera of what is it you want to be very clear on this and you want to write it down and then we can move on to lesson number two.

  • Lesson number two asking why I will always be worth it.

  • The rial self development and personal growth happens within you when you're willing to dig deep and ask yourself why.

  • So after you've listed what's bothering you, you now need to ask yourself, Why do I feel this way?

  • And you need to get real here.

  • Name all of the things that are causing you to feel the way that you feel.

  • So maybe one brutal truth could be that you're just simply not good at the job that you're in.

  • Or maybe you are really good at your job.

  • But you've been having dreams and desires to do something completely different, something that is even more challenging regardless of what the's reasons are.

  • You want to write them all down and then ask Why again?

  • So for example, if one of your reasons is that you're just no longer feeling challenged in the career and the job that you're in, you can't stop there.

  • You have to dig even deeper and ask yourself, Well, why am I feeling that way?

  • Why am I no longer feeling challenged?

  • And whatever answer presents itself, you need to ask why again asking why will help you to get to the root of why you're feeling the way that you're feeling and understanding that will allow you to get clarity on what you need to do instead.

  • Finally, lesson Number three is to clear your energy so that you can make room for new things to come once you're able to get ultra clear on what's bothering you and you're able to dig deep and ask yourself why and then understand why you're feeling the way that you're feeling and you're ready to, then let it go.

  • That's the opportunity for you to then clear yourself of that energy that's been holding you down so that you can make room for something new.

  • Think of it this way.

  • Think of you wanting to re decorate your bedroom.

  • You want to redesign it, make it completely new and fresh.

  • Now, you can't really redesign and re decorate if you don't do the work of first de cluttering your room, right.

  • So you need to do the work of tidying up de cluttering, getting rid of old things and asking yourself why Why am I still holding onto this?

  • Why do I really still want this?

  • Do I still want this?

  • And if you don't, it's time to get rid of it.

  • Because getting rid of that old energy that stuck energies what's gonna allow you to create something better and new for yourself?

  • What you have to remember is that the negative thought patterns and behaviors that we hold on to that stuck energy takes a precious space storage space in our body, and in our minds it's the same as holding onto moldy old expired food.

  • And instead of throwing it away, you're still eating it and taking it in, and you don't realize that you're hurting yourself by doing that.

  • Now this isn't all gonna happen in one day.

  • It's going to take time.

  • It's a process to releasing old behaviors, releasing stuck energy.

  • But after you started to do that, you need to also then ground yourself.

  • You want to do activities that are going to be more grounding for you, helping you to get more connected and centered within yourself.

  • For example.

  • I do yoga.

  • I meditate.

  • I take walks in nature.

  • I spent a lot of time journaling and being with myself because I know that that is extremely important in helping me to stay grounded and to stay centered in my life.

  • I don't get me wrong.

  • Spending time with others is great, but not if they're sucking your energy.

  • The truth is, we need to learn how to take care of ourselves.

  • Self care is extremely important and self care means getting to learn more about who we are, why we're feeling what we're feeling and then clearing out those patterns and behaviors that just don't serve us.

  • So there you have it, my three lessons that will help you to get back on track and help you to feel like you're on the right path, especially if you're feeling lost now.
