  • What a coincidence that you'd be back for one of our 12 Days

  • shows.

  • Oh, well, yeah.

  • We was in the neighborhood and thought I'd drop by--

  • Uh-huh.

  • --and see if you were giving anything away.

  • Yep.

  • You were in the audience-- was it last year or year

  • before-- you were here?

  • Last year.

  • Yep.

  • You decided to be part of the audience.

  • You wanted to get stuff.

  • Yep.

  • Yep.

  • I did do that.

  • You did do that.

  • Oh, you were happy.

  • Do you just in general--

  • I mean, everybody loves getting gifts--

  • but do you love the holidays?

  • I do love the holidays.

  • I mean, look at this place.

  • Is this not amazing?

  • Yeah.

  • Do you do this at your house?

  • I do.

  • It's the only time that I go absolutely crazy.

  • It's like a big old bowl of balls.

  • And you know, I'm the only one who's looking at them,

  • so I was like, I should have whatever I want.

  • Right.

  • Are you a good gift giver?

  • Do you really think about, like, each and every person?

  • No.

  • I actually re-gift, you know?

  • It's because I'm a hard person-- well,

  • actually I'm not a hard person to buy for-- but people

  • try to figure me out.

  • So I like candles and I like iTunes.

  • It's not that hard, guys.

  • Right.

  • No more self-help books, because I'm starting

  • to feel a little anxious.

  • Oh wow.

  • They're giving you-- that's not a great gift

  • to give to somebody.

  • You know, like, what are you really saying?

  • Exactly.

  • Exactly.

  • So your friends should know you better.

  • So you like candles and iTunes gift cards.

  • Exactly.

  • It's that easy.

  • So you just came back from Atlanta and you're shooting--

  • are you still shooting the movie with Melissa?

  • No, we wrapped last night and I flew in in the wee

  • hours of the morning.

  • Oh, wow.

  • So you're shooting-- Melissa McCarthy,

  • you're playing a superhero?

  • Yes.

  • Uh-huh.

  • What kind of superpower do you have?

  • Ben and Melissa were really smart about my superpower.

  • It's the one thing that I can do brilliantly,

  • and that's become invisible.

  • Because Melissa is, like, a queen of stunts.

  • So when you're not a queen of stunts, you should not try it.

  • Just be invisible.

  • You just be invisible.

  • Yeah.

  • It's so wonderful, too.

  • She's so great.

  • That must be so fun.

  • It is.

  • Yeah.

  • I didn't realize I always wanted to be a superhero until I

  • get the call--

  • hey, I wrote this superhero part for you.

  • And I'm like, oh my God!

  • I get to wear a costume?

  • And every time you put it on, you make sound effects.

  • Pew, pew, pew.

  • You know?

  • Why would you wear a costume if you're invisible?

  • Well, you don't want to be naked invisible.

  • Because if you become visible while you're-- you know,

  • in a nervous moment you become visible again--

  • Oh, is that what happens?

  • When you're nervous, you become visible again?

  • In some scenes.

  • We'll see.

  • But yeah, yeah.

  • All right.

  • All right.

  • There's an incident that happened on a plane

  • that I heard about today that is hilarious.

  • Tell everybody what happened.

  • A few years ago I was here during Halloween,

  • and you scared me with spiders.

  • It was hilarious.

  • And the flight attendant, we're doing meals.

  • You know, he's passing out the meals and he walks up to me

  • and he says, "spider."

  • And of course, I'm like, ah!

  • Jesus!

  • And I started, like, looking for the spider.

  • And I knocked my food over into the lady's lap

  • next to me, and then after all that, calmed down.

  • He was like, no, no, I saw you on Ellen when she scared you

  • with the spiders.

  • How would I have made that jump?

  • Yeah.

  • Yeah, all the way back around.

  • No, you don't start that way.

  • You don't start that way.

  • You don't go, "spider."

  • Spider!

  • Wow.

  • All right, truth be told, I love things like this, too.

  • I love podcasts like this.

  • I love true criminal stories, like all those things.

  • So tell everybody what this is.

  • Well, I play an investigative journalist

  • who makes her career by following this one case.

  • And in that case, a young boy is sent to prison

  • and my character sort of helps to do that by the article

  • she writes.

  • And she becomes famous for the New York Times

  • and then starts a podcast.

  • And years later I find out that I

  • may have helped to convict someone who's innocent.

  • So then you're trying to reverse that?

  • Yeah.

  • Reverse it.

  • Yeah.

What a coincidence that you'd be back for one of our 12 Days
