    アキです

  • I'm gonna be talking about culture.

    今日の動画でお話しするのは

  • So in one of my previous videos, I have explained why it is so hard for Japanese people to learn English.

    文化です

  • And in that video I focused on the linguistic differences between English and Japanese.

    過去の動画の中で

  • If you haven't watched it, please check that out.

    なぜそんなに日本人が英語を学ぶのが難しいかを説明しました

  • But actually that's not old.

    その動画では

  • There are so many factors is going to be there, and one of them is culture.

    英語と日本語の言語の違いに焦点を当てました

  • Today I'm going to introduce two characteristics of Japanese culture that slowed down the English learning off Japanese people.

    まだ見ていない方は

  • The 1st 1 is shame.

    ぜひ見てみてください

  • Culture.

    しかし実は

  • What is a shame?

    それだけではないんです

  • Culture, by the way, according to Oxford Dictionary, Shame culture is a culture in which confirm ity off behavior is maintained through the individuals fear off being shamed what to putting an easy word.

    考えられる要因は沢山あります

  • People shame, culture tend to avoid thinks that could cause embarrassment, and Japan is often described as shame.

    その中の一つに文化があります

  • Culture.

    今日は

  • Japanese people are too afraid of making mistakes because that's gonna immersed in my long.

    日本人の英語学習を妨げる二つの日本の文化的特徴を紹介します

  • This is crucial in language learning because if you want acquire language, you have to use new words and phrases.

    一つ目は

  • But when you try something new, mistakes are inevitable.

    恥の文化

  • And this is where Japanese English, others get too scared.

    ところで恥の文化とは?

  • Most of them tried to stay in a comfortable zone.

    オクスフォード辞典によると

  • They don't try using your worst.

    恥の文化とは

  • They only used the same phrases and worse that they have been using for the past few years over and over again, because they feel comfortable with those words.

    人々の行動規律が個々の恥への恐れによって保たれる文化のことである

  • They don't want to make mistakes trying new worse.

    え?

  • This is maybe a little bit exaggerated, but you know what I'm trying to say?

    簡単に言うと

  • I also make out of the stakes when I speak English, but I'm not burst up because that's what supposed to happen.

    恥の文化とは恥をさらすような行動を避けること

  • I'm not a native English speaker.

    日本はよく恥の文化であるといわれています

  • I'm not perfect.

    日本人は必要以上に間違えを恐れます

  • 2nd 1 is high context culture.

    だって恥ずかしいから

  • This overlaps what I mentioned in the previous video.

    これは言語学習においては致命的です

  • Japan is a very high contact society where people read between the lines and speak, expecting the same from the listeners.

    なぜなら言語を習得したければ

  • This is because Japan has be a homogeneous country for geographical reasons, and people shared the same context on culture so people don't need to enunciate what they mean to say the interpretation is lost.

    新しい単語やフレーズを使っていかなくてはいけませんが

  • Lee left, the listeners is such a high contact society.

    新しいことに挑戦すると

  • The amount of the information that single one has is enormous.

    間違えは避けられません

  • As a matter of fact, single word or short sentence responses account for a large portion of conversations in Japan.

    ここで日本人英語学習者は怖気ついてしまうんです

  • But in contrast, English speaking countries like America has a low context culture where people try to explain things in an explicit way to make themselves clear.

    大半が楽な方に流れていきます

  • This is because English speaking countries are racially diversified.

    新しい単語を使おうとせず

  • People don't share the same context on culture.

    何年も同じ単語やフレーズを繰り返し繰り返し使うんです

  • So to describe things Cleary as possible length off one sentence tends to be longer than that of high, complex language.

    なぜならそっちの方が楽だから

  • This cultural difference is making it so difficult for Japanese people to speak English because they're not used to speak that way.

    新しい単語を使おうとして間違えたくないんです

  • They're not accustomed to making long sentences.

    少し誇張し過ぎたかもしれませんが

  • And if you observe Japanese English speakers, you will notice that their English sentences tend to be pretty short.

    言おうとしてることは分かりますよね?

  • So, he said, to characteristics of Germany's culture that makes it difficult for Japanese people to learn and speak English.

    わたしも英語を話すときは沢山間違えます

  • How did you guys like it?

    でも恥ずかしいとは思いません

  • So thank you so much for watching this video.

    だって当たり前だから
