  • behaviors.

  • We have all been there.

  • But since hardly anyone thinks rationally while suffering, they often forget that there are people out there who are going through tough times, too.

  • But most importantly, there I people who have successfully overcome their failures.

  • I am here today to show my experience with just definitely limited and prove to you, but very no difficulties we cannot overcome.

  • And that is even possible to learn from them.

  • I know I may not be competent after talk about such things.

  • Then I'm still a teen.

  • I haven't been through a lot.

  • Uh, and I know they're way more serious problems than the ones I had.

  • But as it is an event attended mostly by my peers, I believe my speeches quite relevant here, and it will hopefully give you a wider perspective on a topic most of you can relate to.

  • Ah, last school year, being my first year of high school was probably the most random year of my life.

  • Because this is the time when I experience what a what a co Ah!

  • Three biggest failures off my life s o the failure Number one was my choice of school.

  • Oh, having won a couple of academic competitions in my middle school.

  • I didn't really have to care about my high school admission.

  • Uh, my plans for the future back then were very vague.

  • S o.

  • I did not even know what subjects to extend for the following three years.

  • Um, but eventually I chose this school which was allegedly the best one in this region of Poland, uh, and decided to extend mathematics, physics and I t ah, as it soon turned out, It's not exactly my cup of tea as my greatest academic interests.

  • Our linguist, expert, ugly social sciences.

  • I was very unsure about my choice.

  • And that's why it's sooner than I started attending the school.

  • I knew that I would eventually change it.

  • Uh, the school year started, and every day I confirmed my belief that it was not exactly a place for me.

  • Ah, first of all, I feel relatively good when I'm respected by people around me.

  • Well, I wasn't exactly, um, the school didn't really give me opportunities to develop myself outside of it, because due to the enormous workload I had ah, the only possible way off spending free time was learning.

  • I did not feel appreciated.

  • I had no academic motivation whatsoever.

  • And I kept receiving terrible grades, being constantly reassured that it would not get better if I didn't start to stay up all night studying things, which didn't really seem interesting to me.

  • Um, but it's not even the worst.

  • Ah, here comes the bang for failure in number two.

  • Even though I felt like I did not belong to the school, I didn't really want to change it straightaway.

  • I was tempted by some scholarship competitions.

  • Um, when you're in your first year of high school, there are plenty of scholarship opportunities.

  • The scholars are chosen by taking part in competitions, which are usually about writing essays and then being interviewed.

  • Um, and I decided to take advantage of them because partly I was motivated to go to school abroad and then study at the world's you, the leading university or one of them, Um, and partly because I just hated my score.

  • That thing.

  • I had three opportunities, and none of them worked on Having dreamt of graduating from one of the world's leading high schools, I felt more than just disappointed.

  • I felt hopeless.

  • I felt like I was not enough.

  • Uh, and I didn't really know if there was any further path for me, but it's not even the worst.

  • Uh oh.

  • Here comes the thing for failure Number three.

  • Ah, when I was planning to apply for it for the scholarships, I had company.

  • I had an amazing friend who supported me throughout the whole application process.

  • We shared concerns, gave some useful advice to each other on good, very, very close.

  • I encouraged him to take part in one of the competitions what he really did, but sooner than we received the results.

  • He became my boyfriend off course.

  • As you may guess, I was not awarded the scholarship, but he waas at that moment.

  • After no longer than a month in the relationship, I felt like everything had just collapsed.

  • The message that I received from one of the competition's organizer's made absolutely no sense to me.

  • I was told not to give up and not to stop aiming high.

  • How are you kidding me?

  • I thought, how could I think rationally when something like that happened?

  • Imagine a 16 year old experiencing her first true love, wanting to go out for dates who finds out that that Holwell was going to end in a few months.

  • Ah, when her boyfriend leaves, I waas pure cious.

  • I was jealous that he got the amazing opportunity of the developing himself.

  • And I didn't.

  • Ah, I never said I never said I was proud of him because I just could not do about, um I didn't really feel like I was enough for him.

  • It seems quite stupid from the perspective of time, but these are the fights.

  • Um, off course.

  • We tried to make the best of the time we had left, and we did.

  • But still in the back of our minds, we had this terrible feeling that we were going to say goodbye to each other for it.

  • Two years with on the brakes.

  • I also feel guilty for what had happened to me because, well, it was supposed to be my competition, not his.

  • Um, but well, this happened, and we needed to live of it.

  • Everyone, literally everyone, including my family, my friends, my boyfriend and me myself thought that I was going to get the press as soon as he left.

  • Fortunately, I did not.

  • I found ways Thio take care of myself.

  • Most importantly, my mental health.

  • And, uh, I also remembered the words about timing.

  • Hi.

  • I wanted to prove myself that even though I did not attend the best high school in the world, there is no point in giving up and not developing myself a doll.

  • And that is why I started doing everything at once.

  • I became an active member off the European Youth Parliament, which gives me amazing opportunities.

  • Ah, I can travel.

  • I can meet new interesting people to have my word spect up with something on the three weeks ago, I returned from a session in Ireland.

  • I'm going to beat me in a week and Finland in a month.

  • Uh so it really gives opportunities.

  • I decided, Thio, if my own appendix stock Ah, and also helped to organize the event itself at the same time, I decided to join the group coordinating the climate strike in my city.

  • I started attending lectures and psychology reading books on topics of my interests.

  • I spent a lot of time in the library and I tried to learn something from everything that I do in my daily life.

  • What I also did waas changing scores.

  • Um, and I treated as one of the best decisions in my life.

  • And I'm not only saying this because of my teachers are listening to me.

  • Uh, but because it just feels like home here.

  • I have amazing friends, and those can be found also among teachers I few supported on Appreciate it.

  • I go to school with pleasure, and I feel like it is just a place for me.

  • Mmm.

  • I It also I also realized that I could actually learn a lot from my seemingly unlike experiences.

  • The first thing that came directly out of my unfortunate choice off school waas.

  • Probably my much needed boost in confidence and ability.

  • Thio identify priorities only then that I realized that I need respect not only from myself but also from people around me, from my peers and like my teachers, who don't really ought to be authorities to their students.

  • Mmm.

  • I felt empowered as a human being who needs to be treated seriously, I I have all the right to develop myself in the ways I choose and surround myself with people who like me who supports me.

  • Uh, and who did not constantly try to prove my inferiority to them.

  • The competition's that eventually lost did not leave me with nothing either.

  • I learned even some basic things, like writing better essays in English.

  • Ah, but they also taught me that other people should not determine my fate.

  • Ah, if they don't want to give me opportunities, I will give some to myself without any help whatsoever.

  • Uh, they should not.

  • They should not influence my self esteem.

  • And most importantly, they should not undermine my mental health.

  • My failure number three might seem to only have unfortunate implications wrong as can be.

  • And it is a time, um when I need to challenge the words off the previous speaker of mine because, well, long distance relationships are really hard, but they're doable.

  • Um, off course.

  • It is extremely tough.

  • I still cry a lot.

  • I do have breakdowns, but I have never loved the person like that before.

  • Um, well, we have been together for the phasing period off 15 months and four days now.

  • Ah, we learned to trust each other.

  • Ah, we come days between our meetings.

  • It's 29 now.

  • Ah, and we are over the planning.

  • Our summer whole.

  • Would they used together at the end?

  • Since my boyfriend is unfortunately not here with us, I would like to say something for him to watch later.

  • I am enormously proud of both of us.

  • Thank you.
