Many companies are buying the same cheap Chinese locks, slapping their own plastic on the outside and marketing them with questionable claims about the special security they provide.

This is the no nonsense bike lock, and it seems to follow that mold with one notable departure.

It's marketing claim is that it doesn't make any claims.

We look at the back, we can see it says no claims about how our steel is tougher or how our patents are smarter, just a tough lock.

Now we can debate toughness, but it is refreshing to see the B S ratcheted down just a bit, though it is important to remember that it's still the same type of Chinese junk full of plastic inside and using the same tired core that we've seen in many other locks.

If we look at the K, we can see it is a slider sidebar design.

It has eight sliders arranged in two banks of four, each one of which controls a separate sidebar.

So let's see what it takes to pick this open.

I'm going to use top of the key way tension with this thick Z bar that fits nicely in that key way.

And then, to move the sliders.

I'm using the standard hook in 18 thousands.

I'm inserting it sideways and then twisting toe lift on the sliders.

Nothing on one, two, the ray or four.

Let me check them one more time, but it seems like perhaps we should start on the right side, not the left.

Okay, let's move over to the right.

Here we go.

Nice click out of one click out of two, click out of three and a little movement on the core.

We may have set that right side already.

Let's move back to the left.

Nothing on one, too.

Click out of three.

Nothing on four.

Nothing on one little click on to little click on three.

Nothing on four again.

Nothing on one too three or four.

There we go, Click out of one, and we got it open.

So as you saw it is not terribly hard to pick.

Is it enough pick resistance for the street?

It might be, but it's certainly not going to stop an experienced picker for very long in any case.
