  • He worked at an airplane parts factory before buying a guitar in a pawn shop and making music.

  • His lyrics have comforted generations and so many people remembering him today, noting that his lyrics are comforting us.

  • Now Lean on Oh thing country now thinking the doctors, the nurses, the health care workers, the first responders who are risking their lives to save others in Seattle.

  • Nurse Ashland, Jules coming home from that shift.

  • So and every night, 7 p.m. And you could hear it across New York City cars for health care workers on the front lines.

  • And so tonight we note the passing of Bill Withers.

  • What a loss.

  • But what a gift!

  • His words lean on me, comforting us.
