Everything started a few weeks ago with an email from a locksmith who happens to be local to me in the D C area.

He emailed me about a quick set smart keypad lock just like this one.

But his came to him without a key and he couldn't pick it open.

I may have been a little bit overzealous and explaining the ease with which they could be picked open because after a few more emails back and forth, my overconfidence resulted in a formal challenge, the acceptance of which is something I am already regretting.

So here are the terms.

I have to open this package on camera and pick the lock inside.

If I open it in less than three minutes, I get, ah, $100.

If I open it between three and five minutes were even.

And if I don't pick it in five minutes, I have to pay him $100.

So let's open this up and see if my hands can back up my big mouth.

Okay, I've actually never seen one of these smart keypad locks come in a box that always seen them come in a blister pack and looks like I got a Ford car.

I probably got a little bit lucky, but the time was one minute and 11 seconds.

So I guess that means I have $100 coming my way in any case.
