All I can do is present you with the facts and allow you to draw your own conclusions.

This isn't a deer office pistol lockbox, and it's advertised on Amazon as a quote responsible way to properly secure your small firearms.

Let's take a closer look.

We have a metal case that is very average for this market segment, and by that I mean not terribly secure from prying.

But what I'm most concerned about is the three digit combination lock.

Let's put aside for a moment the fact that the outer shell is plastic and with only three dials, it would not be terribly hard to brute force that is, try every combination.

My problem is that the tolerances between the dials and the housing are so sloppy that you can see the internal code wheels through the gap and then notches in those wheels.

If you can see those notches, you can decode this by sight.

So let's change the combination to something I don't already know, and then I'll show you just how easy this is to open.

Turn that to reset mode.

Now I'm going to scramble those wheels.

Okay, That should be enough.

Back to operating mode.

Close it up, lock it up and scramble those wheels one last time.

Okay?

I now have a box to which I do not know the combination.

All I need to do is turn the wheels until I see the correct notch.

Okay, The correct combination is 390 Okay, folks, I think it should be pretty clear that this is grossly insufficient to protect a firearm.

In fact, unless your threat model on Lee includes blind people, this is probably a product that you want to avoid.

Actually, now that I say that using a shim like this to feel the gates, I could probably open this while blindfolded as well.
