  • once the guys James two cents here and I'm a little late to the party here with the 9900 K launch tours.

  • We're talking about the new Intel I 9 99 100 k, but it's better.

  • Six score.

  • Okay, so I'm talking about the core I 9 99 100 k.

  • Intel's first.

  • Of course.

  • I'm talking about Intel's new ninth Jen Ai 9 99 100 K.

  • You guys probably saw all the stuff that went on at New York with our launch event.

  • And, of course, the controversy regarding the principal's technology testing methodology.

  • Which gamers nexus did an amazing exploratory peace on that or investigative piece, and he went down to principal technologies.

  • Talk to them directly about their testing and concerns.

  • So I highly recommend you guys go and watch that when you're done with this, he literally did.

  • The showed up unannounced with the hidden camera and all that stuff, and they ended up doing a full interview with them.

  • So please go and check that out, because we can't seem to get through any launches lately without there being some point of controversy.

  • There's always some controversy amongst family isn't who's better in this and that.

  • Usually it's fairly superficial argument, but this time it has been pretty interesting because the 9900 K exists specifically because of the market share gain.

  • That rise and an AMG have gotten back over the last two years.

  • So of course we're talking about the AM be rise and 2700 X.

  • All the way down has put pressure on Intel, which is why they've now suddenly magically been able to put eight cores into a mainstream sized processor, which is something up until now, they were like, We can't do that.

  • My mom's gonna pre face this video with a couple of things.

  • One.

  • We did not test any games.

  • No, we tested purely productivity.

  • We did a kind of a small gambit of test to compare the 2700 X versus the 9900 k and things like blender and times by CPU test Premier geek bench, Cinna bench.

  • So things that are basically going to be putting these directly against each other in his fair of a competition as we can because, man, this is it.

  • This is an interesting launch.

  • Well, let's just go ahead and get right into the benchmarks.

  • We'll talk about the rationale behind our testing, and we actually did a little bit of over clock testing as well.

  • So let's show you guys these slides and we'll come back.

  • We'll talk about it cause there's a lot of information I want you guys to consider before you build or buy your next computer.

  • Because guess what, Now is the time to do it.

  • Everything's out on the table.

  • All the reviews were alive.

  • Graphics cards, si, pues.

  • The only we're waiting on right now is the 79 80 or the 99 80 xy from Intel.

  • Which spoiler alerts Basically the exact same dye that's bend with Sauder.

  • So nothing architecturally different.

  • So with that, look at these slides, pay close attention to them.

  • We'll talk about it.

  • So we tested both CPS under two different conditions.

  • One out of the box settings with no over clocking enhancements, no multi core enhancement note that both of these were tested on a Seuss motherboards.

  • Very similar tiered motherboards.

  • That way they didn't have any sort of a ah bios are designed difference between them.

  • Yes, they're both a Seuss.

  • They're very different approaches to how they handled these chips, but the technology applies equally to both.

  • ASIS has multi core enhancement on both of these boards, which we turned off with our initial testing.

  • And then we turned on to see what happens when you sort of lock all of the cores at their turbo speeds.

  • So out of the box, the 9900 k is going to boost one or two cores up to five gigahertz out of the box.

  • That's kind of a big deal.

  • The fact that we're getting eight core mainstream processor that contribute up to five gigs if one or two cores are under load and then it steps down from there all the way to What was it, Phill?

  • 4.7 gigahertz on all course?

  • Yeah, so that's already significantly faster in terms of core clock, then the AMG S 2700 X.

  • So the MD 2700 ex applies the same principles where if only one or two cores are being loaded, it will go all the way up to 4.3 turbo clock on those cores and that all eight cores of 16 threads are under load.

  • It will step down to four gigahertz across the board on all course.

  • And then what we did when we did our over clock slides is we actually over clocked or basically locked all of the cores at their turbo speed.

  • So the 9900 k had five gigahertz across the board on all the course, which, I'd like to say was actually very easy to do.

  • Whereas the 2700 X, on the other hand, we could not get it stable at 4.3 across the board, we actually were able to get 4.25 very, very close 50 megahertz difference and did actually sees a significant improvement, even in single core at 4.25 versus the 4.3.

  • And that's why the same thing on the Intel, with a single core going to five gigahertz and all core's going to five gigahertz.

  • It's still the same tests, but we still saw a marginal amount of improvement on single core, which is kind of pot that's going talk about pricing real quick because that is where this becomes a very interesting picture here.

  • The 9900 K has a price sheet of $580.

  • That is significant.

  • That makes this not only the most powerful mainstream processor they've ever made.

  • It makes it also the most expensive.

  • Now there's some rational here, and we could have done on testing.

  • We could have tested directly with Price Point, which means instead of testing against a 27 100 X, we'd actually be testing against a 1950 x on Thread Ripper.

  • Reason why we didn't do that is because those are two very different platforms.

  • So we wanted to test the top tier mainstream regardless of price point, to see how they compared.

  • And then, I think, in the future, video will actually test it against 1950 extra in the 1920 X Now the difference with Red Ripper versus Rise.

  • Ennis Thread Ripper has a different kind of an architecture.

  • It deals with not only the Infinity fabric but also CCX, which then means, do we test in game mode.

  • We test in creator mode.

  • That's that Button does a whole lot behind the scenes in the way the CPU operates in, so we're going to kind of find our best testing methodology on that, and then we'll come back and revisit that topic.

  • But now what and he has done is actually today on launch day, they have reduced the price of the 2700 X by 10%.

  • Bring it down under 300 U.

  • S.

  • Dollars versus a processor that's nearly twice the price.

  • What we're seeing here is somewhere around the neighborhood of 80 to 90% of the performance, depending on the test of a 99 100 K for roughly 50% of the price.

  • That makes, of course, the value horn to once again for A and E's favor.

  • Where, when it comes to purely performance per dollar, a M d is still undoubtedly the winner.

  • But on the flip side, if you're one of those people, that's like, I don't care about Price.

  • I just want the ultimate performance, and you honestly wouldn't be looking to either These two chips anyway, you'd be looking at thread Ripper or something on X 2 99 platform from Intel anyway, so it makes this launch extremely interesting, and it definitely bodes once again an A M.

  • D.

  • S favor in terms of value.

  • Now with gaming spoiler alert.

  • Like I said, We didn't do any gaming tests on this because both of these CPI's or going to give you a great gaming experience where they're not going to bottle necking your games or your graphics cards.

  • But you are going to see a higher average F P s on Intel.

  • Then you are an MD.

  • And that's because of the intel still dominant instructions per clock or I p.

  • C.

  • That's always been the case.

  • Intel's always been faster with I p.

  • C.

  • But Risen is not far enough behind right now toward that's really gonna show in your gaming performance.

  • Unless you're doing like 240 hurt CS, go level gaming.

  • You're not gonna notice If you did a blind taste test, you'd probably be very hard pressed to notice a difference between 2700 X or the Intel 9900 k with the same GPU involved there.

  • So we do have our T X cards on these test benches behind me.

  • But again, graphics was not brought into play on any of those tests.

  • Now it's going talk about temperatures real quick.

  • The 9900 k is a saw ordered seep you or at least started in some way because typically you wouldn't deal.

  • It is started CPU.

  • But Stephen Gamers nexus andr Bauer have delighted both of these.

  • And I guess the general consensus is that the Tim is not great.

  • Now.

  • I don't know exactly what they mean by that.

  • I haven't watched their full in depth reviews on what they mean by the cider isn't great.

  • But what I will tell you is in our testing, we used a fractal design Celsius as 24 which is a 240 millimeter a Iot 30 millimeter thick duel 120 millimeter fan with the ace, a textile pump, something I would usually never even consider trying five gigahertz on an 8700 k because of the fact that you would pretty much melted the 8700 k runs at the temperature of the sun because of the terrible thermal interface material used under the eye Jess.

  • Which means that he can't get out of the CPU in the cooler, and everyone has a chance to cool it anyway.

  • That's why everyone delivers them.

  • Who's serious about over clocking well, in our instance here with the 900 k.

  • At least our specific sample cause results.

  • Condemn Finitely very, and keep in mind, please, in terms of temperatures and over clocking headroom and stuff.

  • These are provided samples from Intel.

  • I have no idea how been the are these are.

  • If they're cherry picked, your results will probably vary in terms of retail, but we were able to run auto voltage, which went to 1.31 toe, 1.32 votes at five gigs across the board and never exceeded the low 80 degrees Celsius range on the course.

  • That's pretty significant, considering the 8700 k.

  • The moment you tried to do that, it would ramp right up to 100 C immediately, even on water.

  • So there's definitely improvement made in thermal interface material.

  • But whether or not it says much of improvement, the XO see guys or the extreme over Crocker guys were hoping for is, um, I guess going watch devours video and you'll get more in depth coverage on the thermal interface material.

  • But the fact that they were even able to delete it without destroying the dye means that it's not like a full Sauder like you saw in the old days.

  • The old CPU is our next 99 that were started.

  • If you tried to delete that, you destroyed it so clearly they were able to do that without ruining it.

  • I don't know how they did it, but again, go on, watch those videos.

  • So when it comes to over clocking on this, we were actually able to push the 1900 k up to 5.2 gigahertz with more voltage.

  • But we didn't want to push it too far.

  • We're gonna do a whole nother video about over clocking on this.

  • Probably even use dry ice, or maybe even Ln to to see how far we can take it.

  • But that's gonna be another video in the future.

  • But by simply ta going a couple of buttons inside of the Maximus motherboard from a Seuss, we were able to see five gigahertz across the board.

  • No problems, which was something that the five gigs number was almost unattainable even just a couple years ago.

  • Now it seems it's not too hard for Intel to reach would have liked to have seen our rising 2700 ex lock at 4.3, which is the turbo core 4.25 was all we could get out of it, and we had extreme stability problems at 4.3.

  • So that is our quick sort of a dirty test, I guess, of the 9900 k versus the 2700 X.

  • General consensus here is if you are.

  • If you just don't care about price, you want the best mainstream processor you could possibly get.

  • Performance.

  • $2 ratio is no factor than the 9900 k is definitely for you.

  • Greet over clocking headroom.

  • Temperatures are definitely kept in check vs eighth Jen, but at a price 580 bucks for the CPU motherboards are gonna cost a 23 400 bucks easily to get you the over clocking features that you want.

  • Although the 2700 X for the just the price of the CPU on nine until 900 K, you can get the CPU, the motherboard and probably a chunk of your RAM cost.

  • If you decide to go with a MD because you're like I want the best value and you know what, regardless of who you are, you could be very happy with either of these platforms, but am D still coming up ahead once again on the value per dollar, But you guys ultimately vote with your pocketbook.

  • Do me a favor, watch more than one review.

  • Watch five reviews.

  • 10 reviews Trying as much information as you possibly can on the C P before you make your purchase.

  • We still have other CPS we need to take a look at, obviously the 9600 k.

  • There's a whole line up, and it's interesting that the ice seven they dropped hyper threading on.

  • So there's a lot of testing we need to look at here because as we move down the Intel stack, I feel like the MD value will increase even more because you get SMT or simultaneous multi threading on a nd on all of their chips.

  • All the way down to pretty much the are three, where they take it off our five.

  • In our seven, you get someone simultaneous, multi threading where Intel decided to split their skews up by removing hyper threading on I seven all together.

  • So we'll do more testing on those chips as they roll in.

  • The guys tell me what you thought about this launch?

  • What's CPR you gonna buy if you're looking at building or upgrading your CPU.

  • And if you've already got these on order, tell us why you chose it down in the comments below the guys.

  • Thanks for watching.

  • And also to big news.

  • We launched new merch in the store technically today.

  • So you guys gonna want to go and check that out?

  • New merch will be phasing out the old stuff.

  • And of course, your purchases help keep us running and making videos like this.

  • So thanks for watching guys.

  • As always.

  • We'll see in the next one.

  • You're looking a little pale, J.
