  • Ha, Stupid del.

  • It wasn't supposed to be like this.

  • You know, this device was supposed to save me hundreds of dollars on my next laptop purchase compared to the Mac book.

  • Yeah, I was really counting on that, though.

  • X p s 13 to be the Mac book replacement running windows for hundreds of dollars.

  • Less as just was.

  • It just didn't work out for me.

  • I'm just having so many issues with using Windows PCs, and some of it is Dell's fault.

  • Some of it is Microsoft's fault, and I'm not really sure if I'm just a really picky person or if this laptop is pure garbage.

  • But let me tell you something.

  • You know, I'm the type of person who will spend a lot of time setting up their environment.

  • And so if I have the laptop, everything should just be very good, very functional.

  • My keyboard should work.

  • Just write.

  • My mouth should be just right.

  • My screen should be just the way I like it.

  • And, you know, whenever I start a new job, I might spend like the first whole week or two just setting up the computer and people would think this guy's weird.

  • Why is he just spending on his time?

  • Said them, his computer messing around with cables.

  • He's ordered a new keyboard, a new mouse.

  • And, you know, sometimes I just wonder, why don't I just sit down and get a little bit worked on?

  • Why am I spending so much time?

  • Just said that my keyboard.

  • I want my desk to be as appealing as possible for me to sit them, because I want to say that I'm just like you.

  • I'm just a normal person.

  • I don't like sitting down at my desk.

  • I don't like sitting down in front a computer.

  • Nobody does.

  • You know, we all want to be outside.

  • We don't want to be out in the park playing, going out to the beach, going out having fun, you know, of course, me, too.

  • I'm human, which is why I want my desk to look so good.

  • Looks so fun and be so comfortable such that when that sit down, I have a really pleasant, great experience, and that makes me just a little bit more likely to want to just sit down for many hours at a time is of having a really messy dirty desk and everything is just not really set up, right.

  • And you know, the whole thing's an unpleasant experience.

  • For that reason, I think that the hardware the gear that you use is very important, especially for programmers and software engineers who might spend extremely large amounts of time sitting at the computer.

  • It is essentially my job to look at computers for long periods of time, and this is something that very few people are able to do very few people want to do.

  • So I've mentioned before that the secret to coding is being able to sit down at your desk for long periods of time was my secret is to make my environment very nice, very comfortable to be it.

  • Now many people have asked me to mentor them, to teach them how to kowtow, teach them how to get into a large tech company.

  • And the number one reason that I don't do things like this is because I know that you probably don't have a very good desk set up.

  • If you're running a windows with a ton of different bloatware, your truck passed no good and your screen this crappy and you and your laptop is really creaky with a bunch of plastic on the everything's kind of slow.

  • You know, there's really no chance for you to get good at all.

  • You've already lost before you even began.

  • You know, if you've had the dog before and you've done dog training, then you'll know that they say you need to set the dog up for success and that's what you need to do to I want to set you up for success and you don't do that by getting yourself started off on the wrong foot with a bunch of crappy hardware.

  • Hardware is important to look at, in my opinion now.

  • As for myself, I have not looked at hardware, probably for the last five years.

  • So until you get yourself off set up until you can say that you've helped yourself, how can you expect anybody else to help you?

  • Hey, tackle it here and welcome back to another episode.

  • Today we are drinking stock code brew coffee.

  • It is actually unsweetened, so, like in that it's pretty good.

  • Actually, it's not not too sweet.

  • I think I'd like a little bit more sugar in this one, Actually, first of all.

  • I want to take care of a few logistics.

  • People have been asking me why am I doing all these gadget reviews?

  • And yeah, I think that's an excellent question, and I want to answer that for you.

  • But today is a pretty busy day.

  • We have a full schedule, so if you don't mind, I'm going to take with this question for just two minutes.

  • But I think it's a very important question.

  • There's just a few of the things I want to talk about first and make sure that respond to a question I want.

  • Make sure that all of your questions are answered.

  • So if I don't get your question, just please let me know where you can grab me afterwards.

  • So let me just show you what I have prepared for you here.

  • This is the 2018 dough X P s 13 and people have caught this the Mac Book of the PC world.

  • It is extremely slim, well built device.

  • It looks very similar to the Mac book and after a lot of research, I sort of decided, well, if I were going to get a PC if I were going to get a Windows machine.

  • This would be it.

  • Now, on the other hand, here, what I have here is a standard 2013 model that's five years old.

  • It is a Mac book 13.

  • And then the problem we have here is that recently my kid closed the slapped up on the pen and because of that, just this black mark on the screen.

  • And now I'm looking for a new laptop for my wife.

  • And at first I was thinking, Well, yeah, I'm just going to get her another Mac book and color.

  • They start looking around online, And that's sort of what got me interested in taking a look at other sorts of devices like the surface go like the pixel book.

  • And after evaluating them, I sort of decided that none of them were really good.

  • And, you know, we all know that Mac books are very expensive compared to PC.

  • So what was supposed to happen was I was supposed to come full circle back to PCs, and this would be the device that I would get her.

  • But unfortunately I found that the expense 13 still has some pretty critical issues.

  • Now, what are generally attracted me to the Del was the price.

  • There's no only runs about $1000 but there was always running various this counts.

  • And then I had an American Express offer where I can combine their for an additional 10% off.

  • That's about 20% off the $1000 price.

  • Bringing this device about $100 Mac book is like $1300 even then it's only a two court machines.

  • So what I'm saying is that PC is about 30% cheaper than the press of a Mac book.

  • Now, Matt Books maybe getting refreshed soon, but their price likely is not going to drop much.

  • So whether we just opened these devices.

  • So this is the Mac book, and then this is the bell, All right.

  • Now I'm going to show you the critical issue that I found.

  • The main issue is tap switching on the Mac book tab surgeon just goes much faster, and being able to switch taps quickly, I think, is a key company of being able to use a computer.

  • It helps you just served in that faster browse pages jumped between pages quickly, and you'll find that with those species.

  • For some reason, you can't switch taps very quickly on Max.

  • You can.

  • And I think that this is, for me perhaps one of the biggest deal breakers between Mac and PC and why I still think Mac is going to be the way to go.

  • So what I've done here is I've opened up chrome and thereby press control tab.

  • I can switch your taps and you'll find that the Mac is very responsive.

  • But then the hotel, oftentimes a type of one switch at off.

  • If I hold it, you see that the Mac is stretching very quickly, and yet that they'll get stuck, and that shows you just the difference in performance.

  • I'll say that the Mac it's performing probably 100 times faster or more than the PC.

  • At this point, I made it this smoking fast and this ability to just quickly switch tapped as your browsing the Internet, trying to learn, trying to gather information is crucial, even with Firefox, is still pretty sluggish and gets stuck sometimes.

  • So you know, just like this.

  • Non responsiveness is really annoying for me now.

  • The reason this dough is so well acclaimed is because the bustles are really thin.

  • But the issue with that is what they did is they essentially cut the trackpad such that it is shorter.

  • The keyboard remains the same size, and what you end up having is just a really short track path.

  • Such that is really difficult to use.

  • The track back to scroll upwards because, as you're trying to stroll up your fingers, are hitting the top of the track bed and just just no space to move him.

  • You know, I just thought that was pretty poor design, actually, and the other reason that this screen is so sure is it is actually about 10% shorter than the standard Mac Book 13.

  • The aspect ratio is 16 by nine, versus 16 by 10.

  • So even though you may think that this is a 13 inch just like any other 13 inch, it's not really 13 inch because it is shorter.

  • I wish they would just stop making tons and tons of laptops, and none of them are really good.

  • You like.

  • Just make five five good laptops and bait your whole company on those five and just make it really good and really usable because as They're turning out tons and tons of different laptops and models.

  • None of them are really good.

  • None of them are really polished.

  • And you know, there's just smaller than that picky issues with each one, and they all add up, and the economics, I think, are very important.

  • The other complete deal breaker for me was thes Aargh keys because they put the page up and pitch down buttons right next to it.

  • So often, if I'm like editing tax and he's in the arrow keys to navigate around the document, I accidentally touched the page up or page down buttons, and they're completely moved the screen to somewhere else in terms of screen.

  • I also found a strange yellow color cast to the Dow screens compared to the Mac books screens, and it's also not as bright.

  • I think it's about 30% darker than Max screens, so I think if you were doing father anything, this PC probably wouldn't be very good for your usage.

  • The other frustrating thing was that for Windows, the wife I would always be breaking up and getting disconnected and then not have to go in there and going to the network settings and click troubleshoot, and it would take like a minute to detect problems.

  • And so far it's just funny to me how a five year old Mac book can still smoke a PC that has specs on paper that's supposed to be like twice as fast.

  • And yet the PC just still seems sluggish, and the ergonomics are still not quite as good.

  • You know, the trackpad is too small, your fingers are always hitting the top.

  • The camera is positioned strangely, the arrow navigation keys have page up and page down next to it.

  • The screen, given the 16 by land aspect ratio, was a little bit too short for my taste.

  • And overall I felt that the taps, which was just loop it too sluggish.

  • I think that they'll has put out over our valiant effort.

  • So there you have it.

  • There's a bunch more.

  • I could talk about this device, but you really only need a few good reasons to understand why you probably don't want a Windows device so that there for me give the like and subscribe, and I will see you next time.

Ha, Stupid del.
