LEIGH: I'm selling my 1890s Humphrey's

Veterinarian Medicine Box.

It would be a kit that the veterinarian

would take on site to look at the animal that

needs assistance.

I'm selling it, because I bought it a while back.

I enjoyed it.

And now it's time to sell it and try to make some money

and move on.

RICK HARRISON: This is really neat.

This is a homeopathic veterinary kit.

The weird thing is it's homeopathic for animals.

I mean, it was pretty common, especially back then

to just basically take a few things,

throw some alcohol in it, so it preserved it-- said this was

the cure for everything from like sexual problems

to diarrhea and hair loss.

[laughs]

Oh, this one's for eruptions.

Then we have worms.

The fascinating part is that even the vets probably believed

all this stuff would work, because there's basically,

there was no laws on it.

Prior to the Food and Drug Act, kits like this

were pretty common for humans.

And the same thing applied for animals.

And I got to admit some of the cures in this thing

are pretty weird.

[laughs]

So do you want to sell this?

LEIGH: Yeah, I'd like to sell it.

RICK HARRISON: How much you're looking for?

$650.

OK.

[sighs] It's neat, it's weird, but it's a limited market.

I'll give you $400 for it.

[sighs] Well, it's a little bit less than

what I'd like to get for it.

Can you go $575?

Nope.

It's one of those things that rarity

doesn't necessarily mean value.

I mean, there's probably very few of these left in the world.

There's also very few people who's going to want to buy it.

And I have to find that person.

[sighs] I'll give you $450-- take it or leave it.
