Um, it has a particular historical resonance for the New York Philharmonic.

It happens to have been on the program in 1943 when Leonard Bernstein, age 25 stepped in at the last minute for an ailing Bruno vaulter to conduct the Philharmonic at Carnegie Hall.

One of the pieces that I am most looking forward to this season is, of course, Don Quixote.

It's one of my favorite pieces in the repertoire, and I'm especially excited that letter slacking, will be conducting this piece because I had one of my earliest musical experiences with this piece with Leonard's that Can when I was principal deals of the Minnesota Orchestra.

Another piece that's coming up this season is the Von Williams Variations on a Theme by Thomas Tallis, which has one of the most beautiful villa cellos ever written.

So I'm very excited.

It's been a while since we've done that piece.
