For the first method, all you need is a sharp paring knife. So you're gonna grab your shrimp and, from the feet side, you gonna just start pulling the shell off. So peel that back. You can leave the tail on, or take it off, depending on what recipe you're making. But to take it off easily, you just pinch the back of it and pull. That way, you ensure the most shrimp actually stays on. Then you take your paring knife and you push it down the shrimp, all the way down the back, about a quarter of the way in, to expose the vein and take it out. Now you can leave that vein in. I like to take it out because it's actually the shrimp's digestive tract, and I don't want to eat that. So, there you have it. Nicely peeled and de-veined. Now let me show you a much easier way using the OXO Shrimp Cleaner. If you're a shrimp fan, get one of these. Seriously, they're about seven bucks, and they cut the process down by like 75%. So, easy-peasy, check this out. So, you straighten out the shrimp, hold it in your hand. And just push it in, all the way to the back, and up. And usually in one swoop, you can get the shell and the digestive tract outta there so easy, and then you just peel the shell off again. And with the tail, we pinch. And voila, look at how easy that was. Like two seconds. Wanna see it again? Alright, so, straighten out that shrimp. Push it in all the way down the back, and up. See, look at that, the vein came right out with it. Take that shell off, and the tail. Look how easy that was. Wow. And then just rinse and pat dry your shrimp, and they're ready for any recipe.
