  • Morning guys, I'm here with Sunny! (Sunny) Hi!

  • And today we're gonna take you on a

  • tour of a whole bunch of different places in Seoul. I really want to give you guys some ideas of things you can do if

  • you just have one day to spend in Seoul so we have like an

  • action-packed day full of tons of fun stuff to do so I hope you enjoy. We're starting off our day in

  • Insadong which is one of my favorite places in Seoul it showed it to you guys before

  • I'll probably be back here lots because there's tons to show you here

  • But we're having a yummy vegan lunch to get some energy for a busy day

  • So they have tons of Korean side dishes

  • It looks so delicious is the buffet so we just took a huge plate a little bit of everything

  • I can't wait to eat it so hungry. Sunny just taught me that the reason

  • Chopsticks are metal in Korea is because back in like the old days people would try to poison the king

  • But if you had chopsticks made out of gold or silver

  • When they touched the poison the chopsticks would turn black, so you would know if your food was poisoned. That's so cool

  • I had no idea I always wondered. The owner of the restaurant said that they're really popular with Canadian tourists

  • So I told her I was Canadian

  • She was like "Oh lots of Canadians come here."

  • So we are gonna head to Gyeongbokgung Palace now

  • I've been there before I really want to wear like a hanbok and walk around there and take cute pictures

  • So I will do that someday, but today. We're just gonna go there and explore

  • I'm gonna show it to you guys a bit

  • I don't know if I've ever

  • Vlogged there before. I don't think I have, it was one of the first places that me and my husband went to

  • together when we came to Seoul for the first time together, so I really like it it's a really beautiful area

  • And there's just lots to explore the palace is huge

  • Welcome to Gyeongbokgung Palace, it's really big guys

  • We're gonna buy tickets and go inside so I can kind of give you guys like a an overview of the place

  • We have an hour to kill and we're gonna watch like a special performance out the main gate

  • I've never seen it before but everybody dresses up in like the traditional Korean wear. Everybody's walking around in a hanbok

  • I don't know what the male clothing is

  • called but you'll be able to see lots of people in the background wearing them. It's really cool

  • So this is the main castle

  • This is where the king sits and like watching all of the like ceremony and everything they're like three entrance oh

  • So the closer you get, like the higher your status. (Sharla) Ohh! (Sunny) Yeah, if I'm not mistaken

  • I love just walking around and going through all the different passageways and

  • Never know what you'll find

  • There's so much to explore

  • (Sunny) The palace are big (Sharla) Right! It's huge!

  • So many gates

  • Sunny was saying that there's like different levels of gates and each class of people is like allowed so far

  • So the king was allowed to like right into the middle of the palace, but the lower-class citizens

  • Would be further out outside of the gates oh?

  • And they have special entrances for maids or like servants.

  • There's not that many people here, you'd think there would be lots the weather is so nice

  • But the place is so huge

  • That you really can explore it and basically have really big areas to yourself to take photos and stuff, which is really cool

  • So this palace was built in the

  • 1300s and apparently they're restoring it bit by bit

  • to its original state, but it's in a really nice condition

  • (Korean)

  • We're just taking a break

  • drinking some soy milk

  • I'm gonna miss this when winter is over. I love the heated soy milks that you can get at a convenience store

  • This is like a black

  • Bean one it's really tasty

  • The ceremony is about to start at the main gate

  • Very deadly what the password is 90 times and now is changing

  • That was cool. I felt like I was in some like historical period drama

  • That was neat! I've never seen that before I didn't realize it was such a big performance yeah

  • I've just seen the guys like dressed up guarding the gate

  • You can kind of see a little bit of it from outside the palace

  • But it only cost us $3 to enter so you might as well come in and explore the place because it's so cheap

  • We're getting to a cafe now

  • dessert and coffee

  • In Myeongdong? Near Myeongdong area, and we're gonna do some shopping

  • (The English translation of the coffee shop is 'It's Raining on Paris' Thanks for the info Kevin!!)

  • We're at the cafe now with a really long French name that I can't pronounce. It's so cute. It's such a tiny little cafe

  • and we've ordered some vegan goodies because we were craving some sweets, and I got a

  • Soy milk latte

  • Sunny, what did you get?

  • Ice americano

  • This is so good. I love anything like earl grey flavor

  • Mmm this is so good. (Sunny)This is really rich

  • (Sunny speaking Korean about the baking courses)

  • That cake was so good. I've never tasted anything like it

  • I want to explain it as like a really light cheesecake kind of texture like it was really cold and kind of like

  • moist

  • It didn't feel like a cake

  • It was more like a cheesecake

  • but it was Earl Grey flavored which is awesome and

  • It's really healthy and not like overly heavy or sweet or anything

  • It was delicious with coffee so really recommend that little cafe. The lady working in there was really sweet

  • And they have cooking lessons so me and Sonny were considering taking a baking lesson

  • So we could learn how to make that Earl Grey cake

  • Maybe one day we're heading to

  • Bukak

  • Skywalk? Is that right?

  • Bukak

  • Skywalk, and I've never been there before and it looks like you can get like a really nice view of the city from up there

  • But it's a little less well-known than say like

  • Namsan tower

  • So we're gonna head there now, and I'll show it to you guys

  • We've arrived looks like there's lots to see here there was such a nice view on the way up, but it looks like this whole

  • Area that we can explore so go check it out the view of the city so nice guys

  • Can't wait to show you. I hope my camera will pick it up nicely

  • So on this side you

  • Have a beautiful view of the mountainside

  • But if you go to the opposite side you can see the city and all the high buildings and everything

  • You can actually see Namsan Tower in the distance which is the other high viewing point here in Seoul

  • Welcome to Myeongdong shopping street

  • This place is crazy. You guys there are so many tourists here

  • This is like the most popular place to shop in Seoul so it's just packed with people but for good reasons tons of like

  • little street stalls selling street food and selling clothing and little souvenirs

  • All the beauty stores are here

  • You can see lots of them behind me so if you're in Seoul and you want to do some shopping come to Myeongdong

  • We're looking for a Boots now

  • Apparently it's like a UK drug store

  • I've never been in one my first Boots experience in Korea

  • Their makeup sponges are really good

  • Oh really?

  • I was just telling Sunny my, my makeup sponge is falling apart, and I need a new one

  • She recommended me some like cheaper dupes cuz that thing was like

  • $28 I'm not gonna pay that again. It was nice, but it wasn't only a dollar size. Daiso sounds great

  • I might try it. Can't go wrong for a dollar. So yeah, they have died so here in Korea

  • But it's not a dollar. It's mostly like two dollars some things are a dollar but

  • It's more expensive. It's not as cool as in Japan yeah

  • Everything's a dollar. Yeah like everything in this store

  • This cool, they have all the products that I've seen on like UK vloggers videos, but I've never heard of before

  • Do you think they have the eye liner?

  • Sunny recommended to me the 3ce

  • Pen liner for your eyes, but everywhere I sold out we went to the huge Style Nanda

  • And it was all sold out. They don't have it here either

  • This one isn't it, right? No that's not the one

  • This is my favorite soap

  • It smells like fresh mango. If you come to Korea you can get them in Boots apparently and also in a store called Butter

  • It's like a home store, about $4. Just kind of expensive, but it smells so amazing that it's worth it

  • They have other fruits too, but I always get the mango one just because I know it smells so good

  • But these ones are probably also really good. Aww

  • It's so cute

  • Okay guys, we're gonna head home now

  • I hope you enjoyed hanging out with us in Seoul and we gave you some ideas for stuff to see

  • If you're not already subscribed to send me make sure to check her out

  • I will leave her in the description box if you're Indonesian she also has an Indonesian channel, which would probably be good for you

  • So I'll link that too

  • And I will see you guys soon! Bye!!

  • Thanks for the wonderful video Sharla!
