I was reminded about my mom.

ここに来る飛行機の中で

I'm a self-taught cellist, I've never had a lesson.

母のことを思い出していました

I studied double bass, but I just picked up the cello and started playing

私は独学のチェリストです レッスンを受けたことは１回もありません

because I love doing it.

ダブルベースは勉強したんですが チェロは 手にするなり勝手に弾き始めました

But my mom was an inspiration to me.

すごく楽しく感じたから

I did not realize she was an inspiration,

でも私のインスピレーションは母でした

because she got her music degree through a mail-order course,

私はそうと気づいていませんでした

the US School of Music.

母は音楽の学位を US School of Musicという

While raising two kids,

郵便による通信教育で取ったからです

she received a lesson a week in the mail,

２人の子供を育てながら

and practiced.

毎週１回 レッスンを受け取り

And at the end of a couple of years, she put on a recital.

それをもとに練習しました

And I'll be 50 this month, and it took me that long to realize

そのような形で数年続けた後に リサイタルを開きました

that she was that big of an inspiration.

私は今月50歳になりますが それ程 母に感化されたと気づくのに

I'm just going to keep -- yeah, thanks, mom.

それだけの年月を費やしました

母の影響は これからも続きますー そう ママありがとう

She's also one of the most extraordinary people I know,

beyond being a wonderful musician.

母は素晴らしいミュージシャンですが それを越えて

I want to play a little bit for mom and your moms as well, actually.

私が知っている中でも けた外れに素晴らしい人間でもあります
