Well the most common answer is that people work for money.

最も多い一般的な答えがお金のためです。

They need money to buy food, to buy clothes, to buy gifts for loved ones.

彼らは食べ物、服、または好きな人にプレゼントを買うためにお金が必要です。

And there are others who work for their family, but that essentially means they also need the money.

ほかに家族のために働く人もいます。でも、それは基本的に彼らもお金が必要だということを意味しています。

But what if they have a pot load of money?

でも、もし彼らがたくさんのお金を持っているなら？

What if they are like Steve Jobs?

もし彼らがスティーブ・ジョブスだったら？

Then maybe they work because they love their work or want to revolutionize the world.

だとしたら、彼らは仕事が好き、もしくは世界を変えたいから働くのでしょう。

And then they are others who work for betterment of science and humanity.

科学の進歩と人類の社会を良くするために働く人もいます。

And then there are those who work to break records, like athletes and sportsmen.

ほかにアスリートやスポーツマンのように記録を破るために働く人もいます。

And then we have politicians who work for…

そして、...のために働く政治家もいます。

Do politicians actually work?

Hmm… let's assume they do.

ええと....働いていると仮定しましょう。

So, there are those who work to go higher up.

ですから、一部の人はより高い地位を求めるために働きます。

And we have those that work for their nation.

ほかに自分の国のために働く人もいます。

We also have people who work for God or religion.

神様、または宗教のために働く人もいます。

And of course there are those who want to be known and work for fame.

もちろん一部の人は有名になりたくて、名声のために働きます。

So we have a lot of reasons why people work.

人はなぜ働くのかということについてたくさんの理由があります。

They work for money, for family, for passion, for humanity, for a sense of achievement, for position, for nations, for god, and for fame.

彼らはお金、家族、情熱、人類、達成感、地位、国、神様、または名声のために働きます。

But why do people actually work?

だが、実際のところ人はなぜ働くのか？

In the end, we work because we feel good.

結局、気分が良くなるから働くのです。

Yes, all of us work like that.

そう、それが理由で働くのです。

Just to feel good about ourselves!
