On one hand, I feel the need to sound professional especially if it's business related, but the other I don't want to sound boring and uninterested in the topic.

So when you eliminate text lingo and the emoticons, you are left with the default English language.

メッセージから流行り言葉や絵文字をなくしたら、シンプルな文だけが残ります。

Or whatever you speak, and a proper punctuation.

もしくは、書き手の言葉だけがそこに残ります。そして、句読点を正しく打たなければなりません。

But if you are like me, I like to express emotion into my words especially if it's not in person or on the phone because I hate it when people misconstrue the tone of my messages.

僕みたいなヤツは、文章にきちんと気持ちを込めたいと思っています。直接会ったり、電話で話すのでない場合は特にです。自分の意図したこととは違ったトーンで伝わってしまうのが嫌なんです。

So for me, when I write an email, what ends up happening is something like this...
