  • Hi everybody!

  • Today let's make something special,

  • delicious and sweet: baesuk

  • "bae" is pear,

  • "suk" means cooked.

  • So we are going to steam pear

  • if your family members or loved ones

  • are struggling from a cold,

  • make this for them and they will love this.

  • you can use this home remedy

  • for a cold, or dessert, and as a snack.

  • Delicious.

  • Let's start!

  • (cheerful music)

  • So this is a Korean pear, I got

  • this at a Korean grocery store,

  • Also, this is a bosc pear,

  • Similar colour, similar - you know in my

  • bulgogi video, I used it all the time

  • in place of the Korean pear

  • with a bosc pear. This guy is a bosc pear.

  • It tastes similar. I'm going to

  • make baesuk, with a Korean pear

  • and also, with bosc pear.

  • I'm boiling water; this is my steamer.

  • I like to wash this nicely.

  • Dry off...

  • Cut it around 1 inch.

  • And inside, the seeds! We are going to take it out.

  • We need to get rid of this seeds part.

  • ("zigeudeok" is the sound of the scraping)

  • We can fill this hole with

  • ginger and honey.

  • This soft part; let's put it back a little bit.

  • We need ginger. Grate it,

  • like this.

  • Around one teaspoon, ginger.

  • Honey! Fill it up with honey.

  • Around one or two tablespoons.

  • Cinnamon powder: just a little bit.

  • Pine nuts,

  • jujubes. If you dont have jujubes, just skip it.

  • Add one more.

  • Put the lid on.

  • Put it here.

  • And, I'm going to steam soon!

  • Let's make bosc pear!

  • But as you see, it's not balanced.

  • So I'm going to cut the bottom part a little bit,

  • like this.

  • So now, no problem. Same method,

  • we are going to do this,

  • And then inside, we need to scoop out.

  • This is very soft,

  • compared to the Korean pear.

  • You gotta (have to) be very gentle.

  • I don't see the seeds yet,

  • but I'm going to keep digging

  • until I see the seeds!

  • Okay, seeds!

  • I will just scoop out a little bit more.

  • Okay, done.

  • We have a nice "cave" here.

  • I'm going to put it back a little bit, just

  • like the Korean pear,

  • the soft parts.

  • Honey!

  • Honey, around 1 tablespoon.

  • Cinnamon powder,

  • And this is... ginger.

  • ("cheeka cheeka" is the sound of the grating)

  • Ginger, around a half a teaspoon amount

  • And then, this is the pine nuts!

  • Scoop out.

  • Remove the seed.

  • Beautiful. Done!

  • So this guy goes in the small

  • soup bowl.

  • This is a steamer rack,

  • and I'm going to put this in.

  • The water is boiling

  • and...I'm going to...

  • steam this over medium high heat.

  • 30 minutes after, the bosc pear, small sized,

  • is cooked properly.

  • Let's take out the bosc pear first.

  • Looks really

  • translucent, with some juice

  • that came out on the bottom.

  • It's done.

  • So this guy,

  • we are going to cook longer.

  • Open this!

  • Yeah! Wow! So steamy!

  • Great! Very soft.

  • The ginger, cinnamon smells,

  • with this pear smell: really awesome!

  • This is going to be one portion for a really good dessert!

  • Right, and when you serve this,

  • how about some mint.

  • Yes.

  • So, really pretty!

  • Let me taste it!

  • With a spoon, you are going to scoop out

  • and eat it all with the juice, together.

  • Mmm.

  • So tasty.

  • It's a sweet, flavourful, delicious dessert.

  • Let's open this!

  • See, well cooked

  • and you will see lots of liquid juice

  • on the bottom.

  • (jazzy music)

  • Hmm.

  • So sweet!

  • When you serve this, your family members

  • will really be grateful.

  • They will always remember your love.

  • Today, we made baesuk,

  • steamed pear.

  • Enjoy my recipe,

  • see you next time!

  • Byeee!

  • (cheery music) ((have a wonderful day! ~ the transcriptionist))
